Location: Salvation Army, Harrington Street, Preston, PR1 7BN
Date: 22 Mar 2010 - 01 Jan 2010
The Full Forum Meeting starts at 6:30pm with refreshments and finishes at 8:35pm
This meeting is an ideal opportunity for current members to be informed about the LFoF activities to date and for new individuals and organisations to learn more about the vision of the LFoF with a view of becoming a member.
The theme for the forthcoming Full Forum Meeting is ?The Role of Interfaith in British Society and a Peaceful Coexistence.'' Intrinsic to this theme is the role of faith communities in British society, not only as a separate entity but collectively ?interfaith''. To quote Sandy & Jael Bharat in their book A Global Guide to Interfaith: Reflections from Around the World, ?...How can people of faith turn around conflict situations and contribute to peace and community cohesion?'' (Bharat, 2007: 150).
The theme of this Full Forum meeting seeks to acknowledge the issues that pose barriers to a peaceful coexistence such as an unstable economy, the rising cost of living and poverty, high unemployment levels, disenchanted young people, international relations that affect local communities in the UK, negative stereotypes and misleading information in the media and the rise of the far-right movement to name but a few, while exploring the role of interfaith.
In order to discuss the aforementtioned topic there will be multi-faith panel contribution.
The Full Forum Meeting is FREE to attend, however, we ask that attendees please register to attend.
